Old People on Facebook

Grandmas, grandpas, moms, dads, aunts, uncles, that guy you only know from family reunions, that lady who only calls you for recipes... come on, you all know who I'm talking about. Someone tells them they should sign up for Facebook because "everyone's on it" and the next thing you know, you have a new friend request. So of course you add them... what are you going to do? Block grandma even though she called you and told you to add her because she only has 10 friends so far? ... of course you're not. So, you add them. Usually it's no big deal, but lately my new obsession is creeping old people on Facebook. Seriously, it never gets old (lol). God bless those who struggle with technology....

Commenting - My friends mom is a HUGE commenter! And since you can comment on anyone's photos (even if you're not friends) with the new Facebook she has commented on every single photo he is tagged in. It is so great... here are some of my favourites: "Oh there's my handsome son", "Wow, who is that girl you're with?",  "Are you on a date? ;)", "Mom loves you!", "I miss you hunny!", "That's my boy", etc...

Profile Pictures - These are the best.... as I was looking through my grandma's friends you could tell in a second who was an "old person on Facebook" just from looking at the thumbnail of their profile picture. For some reason, old people always have pictures of their pets as their profile pictures. Also, (one of my favourites) my grandma doesn't know how to crop a picture after you choose to make it your profile... she just presses 'okay' after choosing her picture. So right now her profile picture is a nice close up of her shoulder. I should probably help her fix that lol.

Status Updates - I love reading their statuses! They always have perfect grammar and quite often they sign their names at the end (just to clarify who's updating) haha. The best though is when they try and use abbreviations (aka "That crazy Facebook language" - according to my grandpa). One of my favourite experiences with this was one time when my dad wrote "LOL" all over my wall so I was like "What's so funny dad?" He was confused and said he was just sending me Lots Of Love (LOL) haha. Almost dad... almost.

Wall posts - If you read a wall-to-wall between two old people it's the best. My grandma always writes to her friends things that she should have just messaged them about, but instead she posts them on her wall for everyone to see. I get to learn what they're planning on teaching about in relief society this week, the recipe she wanted from home-making and their troubles with their new TVs haha.

Liking - Aka "I gave them a thumbs up" - My mom. Haha but the greatest "Old person liker" is my friend's dad. He always likes everything he does! No matter if it's a photo, comment, status, etc... It shows he posted it and then that he liked it. Haha too great... It makes me laugh.

Anyways, these are just a few things I love about having old friends on Facebook. So, if you're ever bored start creeping one and then you will find many more to creep and it is sure to provide you with never-ending amusement. Gotta give them props though, I mean hey.. its not the easiest thing to learn how to do at their age and at least they're trying. Just keep loving them but laugh a little along the way =)
